Description

Thorngate Churcher Trust is a community charity in Gosport, providing much-needed housing with support for 142 older people and with a growing waiting list reflecting increasing local need. We also operate a highly respected 44 bed care home for older people and those living with dementia.

From its foundation in 1868, Thorngate was driven by a commitment to deliver housing support and care to those who need it most, and that's still what drives us today. In addition to providing comfortable homes, on-site support to help people live independently, and our own maintenance team, we also seek to expand sympathetically where we can to meet growing local need.

We are about to launch our latest housing site, providing 30 new residential flats in Gosport for the over 50s, due to open in the spring of 2026.

As a trustee, you would play a vital role in helping us set the strategic direction of the charity, ensuring strong governance and financial stewardship as well as supporting the staff team to deliver high-quality services. We are seeing people who share our values and can bring energy, diverse skills and perspectives to our board.

Prior trustee experience is not essential; what matters most is integrity, good judgement and a genuine commitment to our cause.
