Hours: 37 hours per week
Accountable to: DAAS CEO/Service Manager.
Reporting to: Deputy Service Manager
Location: DAAS, First Floor, Dent’s Chambers, 81 New Square, Chesterfield S40 1AH.
Salary: £30,784

Role Overview:
The Training Team Leader will provide operational leadership to the DAAS Training Team. The role will oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of DAAS training programmes, meeting contractual training requirements linked to the Derbyshire Recovery Partnership while supporting the successful delivery of a broader range of training projects and commissioned work. This includes working collaboratively with trainers to develop and deliver training in substance and alcohol awareness, Identification and Brief Advice (IBA), and other relevant areas aligned to individual training projects.
The Training Team Leader will line manage the training team, supporting performance, wellbeing and professional development, and ensuring consistent standards of training delivery and evaluation. They will act as a central point of contact for training requests, contributing to effective workload planning and the efficient use of team resources.
The post-holder will represent DAAS and the wider Derbyshire Recovery Partnership at events, meetings and promotional activities, helping to raise awareness of substance misuse, addiction and harm reduction across Derbyshire.
Provide operational leadership to the DAAS Training Team, working closely with the Deputy Service Manager to ensure contractual targets and outcomes for training delivery and impact are achieved.
Oversee the planning, co‑ordination and evaluation of DAAS training programmes across multiple projects.
Provide quarterly performance data and narrative reports to support DAAS reporting requirements.
Line manage the training team, providing regular supervision, annual appraisals and ongoing support to promote performance, wellbeing and professional development.
• Act as the central point of contact for training requests, co‑ordinating workloads and resources to ensure timely, high‑quality delivery.
Work collaboratively with trainers and subject matter experts where appropriate to develop and deliver evidence‑based, evaluated and engaging training.
Quality assure training content, materials and delivery to ensure consistency, accuracy and alignment with contractual and organisational standards.
Maintain oversight of training procedures, ensuring they are clear, current and reviewed regularly.
Support the development of new training offers and funding opportunities in response to emerging needs and service developments.
Represent DAAS and the Derbyshire Recovery Partnership at events, meetings and awareness‑raising activities, promoting training provision and referral pathways, including access via the DRP HUB.
• Oversee the promotion and communication of training activity, including co‑ordination of website content, social media updates and newsletters, working with the Training Administrator to ensure information is accurate, accessible and up to date.
Ensure effective management of training resources and promotional materials.
Keep informed of local and national developments in substance and alcohol misuse policy, legislation and practice, using this knowledge to inform training content and delivery.
• Contribute to the delivery and promotion of the STAND TO Veteran Service as required.
Travel across Derbyshire as necessary to support training delivery, partnership working and service promotion.
Undertake other duties appropriate with the role to support the effective operation of the Training Team and enable DAAS to meet its strategic objectives.
Hold a Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or equivalent). Where this qualification is not held, the post‑holder will be required to work towards achieving it within an agreed timeframe.
Experience of designing and delivering training or teaching, ideally to adult learners in professional, health, social care or community settings.
Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex or sensitive information clearly and deliver engaging, accessible training to a range of audiences.
Competence in the use of Microsoft Office applications and digital design tools such as Canva to produce professional training materials and resources.
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside subject matter experts, managers and colleagues to develop, deliver and continuously improve training programmes.
An understanding of, or willingness to develop knowledge in, substance and alcohol misuse and related public health issues.
Ability to travel across Derbyshire to deliver training and attend meetings or promotional events as required (a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential).
