Hours: 30 hours per week (negotiable). Permanent Contract.
Salary: £15.68-16.49/hour (£30,172-£31,732 pa pro rata), plus pension & benefits
Location: Bournemouth, but some travel to other Faithworks sites in urban East Dorset
Reports to: Commercial & Communications Manager

What’s the focus of the Job
The Training Manager will lead, and look to expand, the delivery of high-quality vocational training programmes, currently in carpentry and barista skills. They will oversee the whole pathway of training, from liaison with referrers, to planning the offering, to safe induction into the courses, through the practical training, to the celebration and then aftercare of the trainees.
Our key aims are two-fold, and absolutely interconnected:
• to see trainees successfully move on to employment, education or further training
• to see trainees grow in confidence, purpose and resilience.
The role involves ensuring all venues and activities are safe, managing a team of trainers, welfare/support workers and volunteers, ensuring excellent learner support (including 1:1 provision and aftercare), and maintaining strong communication with referral agencies and potential employers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Management
Guide a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture that puts the trainee first; create a team culture that values practical learning, welfare and life skills, and the future development of the trainee.
Line manage and support a small team consisting of a carpentry coach, support worker and project admin (all Part time)
• Lead and grow a team of volunteers

• Manage the contract and engagement with the external Barista trainer
• Ensure the team are appropriately supported, trained and equipped for their role
2. Training Programme Delivery & Quality
Oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of carpentry and barista training programmes (helping to deliver programmes where appropriate skills)
• Ensure training meets high standards, is engaging, inclusive, outcome-focused
• Manage and communicate overall training programme, looking for ways to enhance the offer, or add quality.
3. Learner Support & Safeguarding
• Ensure all learners are appropriately risk assessed before and during engagement
Oversee the provision of ongoing support, including aftercare for trainees as they move on to employment, education or further training
• Ensure safeguarding practices are embedded and adhered to at all times
• Ensure all learners have clear outcomes, and leave with evidence of their work
• Respond appropriately to any concerns relating to learner wellbeing.
4. Partnership & Referral Management
• Maintain effective communication with referral agencies
• Provide regular updates on learner progress and engagement
• Ensure smooth onboarding of referred individuals into programmes
• Build positive relationships with existing and new partner organisations.
5. Health & Safety
• Take lead responsibility for Health & Safety across the project.
Ensure the workshop environment and the operation of training within it complies with H&S standards
• Ensure safe working practices are followed in workshop and training environments
Within the workshop and any other training areas, ensure all appropriate risk assessments are in place, are kept up to date, and any measures identified within them to eliminate or mitigate risks are implemented
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and policies .
6. Monitoring & Reporting
Ensure accurate records of learner attendance, progress, and outcomes are kept, including self-assessment change and feedback
• Seek feedback from referrers and employers, responding to any issues raised
• Provide reports to senior management and funders as required
• Contribute to continuous improvement and range of learning
7. Service Development
Seek, evaluate and work to implement new opportunities for skills based training for our client base

Person Specification

Experience
• Experience in working within a teaching/ coaching environment.
Experience in leading and managing a team, ideally in a training or teaching environment
• Experience supporting individuals with additional needs or barriers to learning
Experience in managing Health & Safety in an operational work environment, including implementing and monitoring risk assessments and safe systems of work.
Experience in service development, driving forward new ideas and delivering results.
Skills & Knowledge
Strong training and facilitation skills
• Good understanding of learner support needs, including 1:1 engagement
Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements, particularly in practical/workshop environments
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain high standards
• Strong IT skills

Desirable Criteria
• Teaching or training qualification (e.g., PTLLS, AET, or equivalent)
• Experience working with referral agencies or community organisations
• Health & Safety certification
• Experience in programme development or curriculum design
• Experience delivering vocational training (ideally carpentry or practical skills-based training)
