Moving Mindsets, Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs)

EMHP Trainee - Project Worker 1 £27,417 - £28,374

EMHP Qualified – Project Worker 2 £30,798.85

An opportunity has arisen for a new round of Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHP's) to join the Moving Mindsets Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) in Morecambe Bay.

Would you like to work therapeutically with children and young people in education settings, to support their emotional health and wellbeing?

Do you have direct experience of supporting children and young people with their emotional and mental health? Are you interested in learning about evidence-based therapies?

If, yes, then this role is for you!

EMHP's provide therapeutic support to children, young people and their parent-carers and work in partnership with education settings. They do this whilst also attending a university programme to qualify as an EMHP. The university education programme has been designed specifically for the EMHP role, in partnership with the Greater Manchester Psychological Therapies Training Centre, NHS England and the University of Manchester.

Successful candidates will be employed on a full-time basis to deliver mental health support across a range of educational settings in either North Lancashire or South Cumbria. The positions will be line managed and clinically supervised within one team.

You will be employed by Barnardo's as a Project Worker 1 post, gaining credits towards a diploma level qualification throughout your year of study. On successful completion of the training, you will progress to a Project Worker 2 EMHP post.

The service bases are situated in The Hub at Project John in Barrow, Stricklandgate House in Kendal and Northgate, White Lund in Morecambe.

We have created a friendly, caring and supportive service environment, with a strong ethos around providing quality and effective care for children and young people. Does this appeal to you? If yes, then please apply to join us.

Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) are a national programme jointly delivered with the Department for Education, NHS England, NHS workforce, training and education, and NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (NHS ICB). The programme has three main commitments:

  • Delivering evidence-based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs
  • Supporting the senior mental health lead in each education setting to introduce or develop their whole school/college approach
  • Giving timely advice to school and college staff, and liaising with external specialist services, to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education

Children's Mental Health and Wellbeing is a key component of Barnardo's Corporate Strategy and Mental Health Support Teams are part of this strategy.

We welcome enquiries from people interested in this role and are happy to facilitate visits or online meetings prior to interviews.
