BOSS has been delivering a service in St Helens since 2012. We support children and young people (5 – 19) through therapeutic work. We work in collaboration with St Helens CAMHS to adopt the Thrive Model of care for all children in the borough. All our services use a suite of evidenced based Outcome Tools to show individual progress of service users. The Child Outcome Rating Scale, Session Rating Scale and Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire form the basis of these tools. These sit within the Barnardo's CSSO framework of practice – see attached document. Training will be given on the CSSO Framework.

We are delighted to have a unique opportunity for a qualified therapist who will manage a number of cases within the BOSS service to sit within the Young People's Drug and Alcohol Team. This is an exciting development to work closely together to deliver effective quality services to the high level of vulnerable young people with co-existing substance use and mental health issues.

This post will work with young people where there are identified issues of substance misuse, so ideally you will have:

  • A good working knowledge and experience of working with addictions.
  • The ability to support the delivery of public health outcomes such as reducing alcohol related hospital admissions and reducing the impact of drug and alcohol related harms.
  • A good knowledge of the multi-faceted problems young people can experience, particularly due to trauma and Adverse Childhood experiences.

Do you have significant experience of working in a trauma informed and responsive way?

Do you have experience of working with young people who have complex emotional health and wellbeing needs?

Are you qualified to Diploma level (min 2 years) or above in one or more of a range of therapies such as Integrative, Person Centred Counselling, CBT, EMDR, and / or Behaviour Therapies? If you are:

  • Accredited with an approved professional body
  • Able to evidence continuous professional development
  • Can provide specialist experience within the team
  • Able to drive and have access to a car

We would very much like to hear from you to potentially join our team.

When completing your application please refer to your skills knowledge and experience in relation to the Person Specification, Job Description and Additional Information document (if applicable). This should be done with an understanding of the context of the service described.

Due to the number of applications we receive, this vacancy can close before the advertised closing date so please submit your application as soon as possible.
