Grief Encounter was set up in December 2003 to ensure that bereaved children and their families receive the best possible support following the death of a loved one. Grief Encounter is a leading UK bereavement charity, providing free, professional services and support to bereaved children, young people and their families. We predominantly work in London and Bristol whilst also having a national reach through our Bereavement Support line and through the distribution of Grief Relief Kits. JOB TITLE: SALARY: Therapist £34,000 - £37,000 per annum LOCATION/BASE: Office based (Bristol) with flexibility for hybrid working CONTRACTED HOURS: 40 hours a week, 5 days a week with a 1 hour paid rest break per day RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Clinical Services ACCOUNTABLE TO: Director of Clinical Services Our Vision: A world where no child grieves alone. JOB SUMMARY: We are looking for enthusiastic and committed qualified Therapists to help us continue to deliver our outstanding therapy services for children, young people and families. Our qualified therapists are an important and valued part of the Grief Encounter Team and you will be key in providing therapeutic intervention for bereaved young people aged 4 - 25years old, working with a caseload of 20 clients at one time. Providing one to one, group work and facilitating at our events and workshops. As part of the clinical team within Grief Encounter you will be provided with regular Line Management and Clinical Supervision. Working within our office base, local schools and the community. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • To provide 1-2-1 therapeutic support to children and young people age 4-25 who are experiencing grief due to a bereavement. • To provide group therapy to our children and young people. • To work in line with the organisation’s aims and within organisational policies and procedures as outlined in the induction programme. This includes Safeguarding, Child Protection. Data security and Confidentiality. • To provide family assessment face to face and online. • To follow safe and effective working practices in line with Grief Encounter polices whilst working online and Face to Face. • Engage in a minimum of 1.5 hours monthly clinical supervision with Grief Encounter supervisors. This to ensure safe working practices, maintaining accountability and duty of care within the organisation. Person Specification: • A qualified counsellor/psychotherapist/creative therapist with relevant training and/or experience in bereavement and loss. • BACP/ UKCP or other governing body membership/accreditation. • In-depth knowledge of the theories underpinning grief counselling. • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team • Experience of running therapeutic or psychoeducational groups. • Enthusiasm and ability to stay informed on developments in the field of grief counselling. • Exceptional interpersonal communication and record keeping skills. • To comply with Grief Encounter’s procedures for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the families GE supports. • Good IT skills, including Office 365, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Able to work online via Microsoft Teams and Zoom. • Ability to work within a team • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
