Job description:
Worcester Cathedral Chamber Choir has a vacancy for a tenor and invites applications from interested singers.
WCCC is a mixed voice choir of around 35 experienced adult singers. It contributes regularly to the musical life of the cathedral singing services throughout the year, as well as undertaking a varied programme of concerts and outreach events in the diocese. The choir sings the weekend services for the annual Elgar Festival in Worcester, and is a visiting choir at other churches and cathedrals including, in 2025, Westminster Abbey.
WCCC has a significant number of recordings to its name, including a new disc “A Worcester Christmas” to be released in Autumn 2026. Repertoire spans a wide range of choral music, from Renaissance polyphony to contemporary works, performed to a high musical standard within a supportive and committed choir community.
We welcome applications from adults of all backgrounds and are particularly interested in singers who:
- Have a secure tenor range and a well-blended tone
- Are confident sight-readers or able to learn music quickly
- Enjoy both liturgical singing and concert performance
- Are able to commit to regular rehearsals and cathedral services
The choir rehearses at the cathedral on Thursday evenings during academic term times from 7.30pm - 9.30pm.
We look forward to hearing from you and welcome you to try out singing with us at a number of rehearsal sessions before you audition.
