Runnymede Family Centre are recruiting for a Team Manager.

This is a full-time post for someone who is looking to progress their career in family support, safeguarding decision making, management and effective leadership. The family centre is currently based in Egham and due to move to a permanent base in New Haw in May/June 2026. The role includes working across the Runnymede District and other localities in Surrey when needed. A proven track record of demonstrating Barnardo's basis and values is required.

The role will involve the management of the Family Centre to achieve exceptional standards, evidencing the added value Barnardo's brings to the Family Centre's Contract working closely with the service manager and other Barnardo's Family Centre team managers, as well as working in partnership with other key professionals working around the family.

The Team Manager supports and motivates their team to achieve positive outcomes towards Barnardo's strategy and vision for more hopeful, happier and healthier children. The Team Manager provides line management to the Family Centre team e.g Family Support Workers, Youth Skills Workers, Community Engagement workers and Administrators. The Team Manager will be the face of the centre in all operational elements therefore based in the Family Centre to support the smooth running of the centre.

We are looking for candidates who are dynamic, personable, with relevant family support experience and a good knowledge of safeguarding procedures. They must also have a proven track record of line management as well as excellent organisation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Family Centre team in developing and maintaining effective services for children, young people and families.
  • Attend Surrey County Council performance management conversations with CSM. Evidencing the voice of the child, young person and family is heard, and that children and young people remain at the heart of our decision making and actions.
  • Share with CSM ongoing local area need and wider data knowledge to develop an action plan of needed support .
  • Partnership working to reduce inequalities for children, young people and families. Team manager will maintain positive relationships with local providers e.g health agencies and other community-based groups to offer support, where its needed, when its needed within the reach area and Family Centre sites.
  • Support and ensure the Family Support Workers and all team follow clear processes on allocation of families, demonstrate confidence, skills and ability to guide and support FSW with clear actions needed for the family. Actively encourage reflective practice and review progress for families ensure closing of casefiles have a safe handover.
  • Monitor performance standards on EHM ensuring a high standard is achieved. Plan with CSM Audit themes for cases when needed to support learning.
  • Lead and present at Partnership network meetings and boards when required.
  • Training- Ensure all staff team remain compliant following Barnardo's training expectations. Accountability for embedding Barnardo's policies, procedures, training and staff learning requirements.
  • Deliver quality case supervision and 121 individual supervisions. Document and record clear actions and timescales for staff development and family support needed.
  • Promote staff development and opportunities within Barnardo's.
  • Organise peer support and observations. These are planned throughout the year guided by CSM
  • Attend Management meetings for Barnardo's when required online and face to face.
  • Safeguarding -Ensure robust safeguarding processes and practice is followed. Support staff with ongoing training to ensure Barnardo's, local and national standards are embedded and understood.
  • Complete performance management forms ahead of Commissioner evaluation. Demonstrate support and difference made on the 10 Supporting Family Outcomes, touch point Standards, Outcomes Star, Early Help Assessments and GCP2 tools.
  • Provide evidence for ongoing evaluation of Key Performance Indicator's through the centres Performing monitoring form/ SEF . Attending Performance reviews with CSM .
  • Report staffing numbers to CSM , working with other Team Managers within Barnardo's across Surrey to meet levels of referrals when required.
  • Support the team to ensure Early Help Assessments, TAF, Outcome stars and Graded Care profiles are completed to an exceptional standard.
  • Ensure recording of all interventions are documented to a high standard within expected timescales.
  • Based in the Family Centres maintain an engaging and welcoming centre for all, ensure centre cover is planned and all staff meet Face to Face when required.

Health and Safety (Staff team and building responsibility)

  • Maintain health and safety standards, training and safe practice for the team. buildings and community practice.
  • Ensure lone working procedures and risk assessments are thorough , reviewed and ensure staff safety at all times
  • Developing service level agreements and robust Risk Assessments when required, delegating clear tasks to the administrators to support and evidence safe practice.

Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band – this ensures that pay steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours.  More details on Barnardo's pay framework can be found upon application.
