Job Introduction

Manchester Outreach and Short Stay Service supports individuals who experience mental health needs, both complex and enduring, in their own home across the Manchester Area. Every day, we work alongside individuals to provide compassionate, person-centred support that empowers people to live their best lives in their own homes.

As our Team Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind a dedicated group of support workers. You’ll ensure that our service not only meets but exceeds the needs of the people we support, delivering care that is safe, responsive, and truly person led. Your leadership will directly shape the quality of life for individuals in our community, while fostering a culture of trust, growth, and collaboration within your team. You will have excellent communication skills and an ability to be flexible and take on an extremely varied role and will be a visible leader within your team, providing practical leadership throughout the day.

As the Team Manager, you will be expected to work Monday to Friday and additional out of hour on-call responsibility to the support the locality. Ideally you will be a car driver, but this is not essential. The post is Full Time, 37 hours per week.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead, inspire, and develop a team of outreach support workers, ensuring they feel valued, supported, and equipped to deliver exceptional service.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including rota management, case allocation, and service delivery planning.
  • Maintain high standards of care in line with regulation and organisational policies and governance.
  • Build strong relationships with service users, families, and partner agencies such GP’s and Community Mental Health Teams to ensure joined-up, holistic and proactive support.
  • Monitor performance, identify training needs, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively to ensure sustainability and quality.
  • Respond to safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all service users.
  • You will work collaboratively with other Team Managers and your Locality Manager to ensure high quality treatment is delivered in a person centred and engaging way.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven leadership experience in health and social care, ideally in a community-based or domiciliary setting.
  • A recognised qualification in health and social care or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of standards and safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Empathy, resilience, and the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Confident communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
