Job Description
Lead a team. Shape young lives. Make every day matter.
We’re looking for a dedicated, full-time (38 hours per week) Team Leader to join our welcoming children’s home in St Albans. This is a rewarding opportunity to step into a meaningful leadership role supporting children with learning disabilities and autism.
Working closely with the Registered Manager, you’ll help guide a passionate, supportive team while ensuring the home remains a safe, nurturing place where every child can thrive.
About the home
You’ll lead a team supporting four incredible children and young people, each with their own unique personalities, routines and interests. From outdoor adventures and community outings to sensory play and celebrating important milestones, no two days are the same. You’ll be part of a close-knit, compassionate team, helping young people build confidence, develop life skills and enjoy meaningful experiences.
Your role
As Team Leader, you’ll support the day-to-day running of the home and step up in the Registered Manager’s absence. You will provide calm, consistent leadership so Support Workers feel confident, valued and connected. You’ll build strong relationships with families, social workers and other professionals to ensure each child’s voice is heard and respected. You’ll create and adapt personalised support and behaviour plans, support recruitment, training and performance management, and maintain high standards in line with Ofsted requirements, Children’s Home regulations and safeguarding practices. You’ll respond promptly and thoughtfully to safeguarding concerns, always putting children’s wellbeing first. You’ll also play an active role in daily life, from morning routines and meals to activities and household tasks.
You’ll work a varied shift pattern including days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Why join us
This is more than a job. It’s a chance to lead with compassion, inspire others and make a lasting difference in young people’s lives.
If you’re ready to bring out the best in others and be a steady, supportive presence for children who deserve exceptional care, we’d love to hear from you.
