Who we are: The Grace Eyre Foundation is a charity based in Brighton & Hove and the wider Sussex community that has been working with people with a Learning Disability and autistic people since 1898. Our mission is to work towards being led by people with Learning Disabilities and autistic people to deliver high-quality housing, support and activities in their local communities. The people we support tell us that they want “good support from kind and friendly people” – so that is what we are looking for!

What we’re looking for – we’re seeking someone who is a confident and a proactive leader with a background in social care, passionate about supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autistic people. They will need to be organised, resilient, and great at problem-solving, passionate about inclusion, respecting individual rights, and assisting the people we support to take control of their own lives.

  • Lead and inspire a team of Support Workers to provide consistent, person-centred support.
  • Build and manage staff rotas to ensure support hours meet the individual needs of the people we support.
  • Oversee service quality, including regular reviews with the people we support and their circles of support.
  • Recruit and supervise staff who reflect Grace Eyre’s values and commitment to inclusive practice.
  • Ensure the smooth-running of 24/7 services and carry out regular audits.
  • Work flexibly, including early mornings, evenings, and sleep-ins where required, as part of the rota.
  • This is a hands-on leadership role — you’ll work directly alongside the people we support, modelling great support and enabling independence and inclusion.
  • In this role you will be working with families also so you will need to have good communication skills and prioritising tasks daily
