Team Brunel Social Sport Activator

Responsible to: Student Activities Manager 
Grade: CT3 - £13.25 
Hours: 20 hours per week during term time.

Role Purpose

The Team Brunel Activator will support the delivery and development of the Unions social sport and physical activity programmes. The role focuses on coordinating the Brunel Cup intramural leagues and the Active@Brunel programme, creating inclusive and engaging opportunities for students to participate in sport and physical activity.

The post holder will recruit and support student activators, organise activities and events, and work to increase participation in our casual sports offer across campus.

Key Responsibilities

Brunel Cup on campus sports Leagues

  • Coordinate and administer the Brunel Cup on campus sports leagues.
  • Organise weekly fixtures, manage results and maintain league tables.
  • Communicate updates to participants through email and social media.
  • Attend sessions and leagues on a weekly basis to support and enable delivery.
  • Manage team and individual entry forms for each sport.
  • Liaise with Brunel Sport staff to confirm facility bookings.
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteer activators to assist with delivering sports sessions and fixtures.

Active@Brunel Programme

  • Develop, coordinate and deliver the Active@Brunel social sport programme and special one-off events.
  • Recruit, support and act as the main point of contact for student activators delivering sessions.
  • Provide guidance on session delivery and required administration.
  • Recruit and retain participants, with a focus on engaging underrepresented student groups.
  • Work with the Union communications team to promote the programme and increase awareness of events.
  • Track participation levels and ensure attendance is accurately recorded.
  • Deliver pop-up sport and activity sessions across campus where required.
  • Manage activities within the allocated social sport budget.

BUCS Support

  • Support the Sports Coordinator with membership checks and team sheet administration.
  • Provide general administrative support to ensure the smooth running of programme as required.

General Responsibilities

  • Provide a high standard of customer service to students and participants.
  • Work collaboratively with Students’ Union and Brunel Sport staff.
  • Ensure activities follow relevant health and safety procedures.
  • Support the development of an inclusive and welcoming sport environment for all students.
  • Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role when required.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience participating in or supporting sport, physical activity or events
  • Experience working with peers, volunteers or within a team environment
  • Experience managing time effectively alongside multiple responsibilities

Desirable

  • Experience organising activities,fixtures or small events
  • Experience promoting activities or engaging participants (e.g. social media, word of mouth)

Knowledge and Understanding

Essential

  • Understanding of the benefits of sport and physical activity for student wellbeing and community
  • Awareness of the importance of inclusion and accessibility in sport
  • Basic understanding of health and safety in activity delivery

Desirable

  • Awareness of student sport structures and intramural activity
  • Basic knowledge of BUCS competitions

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Strong communicationskills and ability to engage and motivate participants
  • Good organisational skills and ability to support delivery of sessions and fixtures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, using initiative when needed

Desirable

  • Ability to use social media or other platforms to promote activity
  • Ability to record and track participation data accurately

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current Brunel student or equivalent relevant experience

Desirable

  • Relevant sport,coaching or officiating qualifications
  • First aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training)

Other Requirements

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends in line with activity delivery
