The King’s Foundation is made up of three schools:
King’s Senior School and two preparatory schools,
King’s St Alban’s and King’s Hawford. Together,
they form a vibrant and nurturing educational
community.

King’s Senior School educates approximately
850 pupils aged 11–18 on our stunning city-centre
campus. Sharing this site is King’s St Alban’s,
a thriving prep school for around 150 pupils
aged 2–11. Just north of the city, in the beautiful
Worcestershire countryside, King’s Hawford
provides a dynamic learning environment for
approximately 260 pupils aged 2–11. All three schools
are united under a single governing body, ensuring
a cohesive vision and shared values across the
Foundation.

Introduction to the role

The King’s School, Worcester wishes to appoint
an outstanding Teacher of Spanish and French,
commencing September 2026. There is a possibility
of becoming Subject Lead for Spanish for the right
candidate.

We are happy to accept applications from those
interested in full-time or part-time working
patterns, please specify your preference in the
supporting statement of your application.

The School seeks a teaching professional with both
integrity and compassion to contribute to our
highly successful Languages Department. We invite
applications from well qualified and ambitious
teachers as well as those in the early stages of
their careers. Indeed, we offer an outstanding
programme of support and induction for ECTs.

The Languages Department at King’s

follow the Pearson Edexcel IGCSE course and the
AQA A-level course in their chosen languages.

Academic results are strong at IGCSE and A-level.
Across 2024-2025, 89% of A-level French grades,
92% of A-level German grades and 86% of A-level
Spanish grades have been A* to B. In 2025, 68% of
IGCSE French, German and Spanish grades were 9-7.

The department consists of eleven members of
teaching staff, four Language Assistants and one
visiting Mandarin teacher. Each language has its own
Head in addition to the Head of Languages.

The department is housed in its own suite of rooms
and has a dedicated multimedia centre. Teachers
in the department are passionate about teaching
languages so that pupils of all abilities achieve
their potential in the subject. All members of
the department are very much involved with the
extensive co-curricular programme of the School,
including subject-based activities such as school
language days and study trips abroad. Independent
private study of languages is encouraged and in
recent years pupils have taken extra-curricular
Mandarin, Russian and Italian to GCSE or beyond.
In the Sixth Form, students can also study TEFL
and BSL as their elective subject which is studied
alongside their A-levels. This is a popular option
with visiting teachers joining the department to
teach the lessons.

Curriculum

Pupils are initially taught in a carousel at the start
of Year 7 so that they receive taster courses in
French, German and Spanish before taking their
first language forward. Pupils then start a second
language in Year 8 with the option to pursue this
through to GCSE as well if they wish. Students

a significant contribution. Candidates who are

The successful candidate should be a Languages
specialist with a proven record of teaching Spanish
and French as well as considerable personal
enthusiasm for the subjects.
