King Edward’s School, Bath is seeking to appoint an inspiring and well-qualified

Teacher of Spanish to join our successful Modern Languages Faculty on a fixed term basis.

Spanish is a thriving and popular subject across the School, with strong uptake at GCSE and A Level, and excellent outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, well-resourced department and teach motivated, intellectually curious pupils.

The successful candidate will teach Spanish across the full age and ability range, including A Level, and will contribute fully to the academic and pastoral life of the School. This role would suit either an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT), for whom a full induction and support programme will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

The Teacher of Spanish will:

  • Deliverhigh-quality lessons that inspire, challenge and support pupils of all abilities.
  • Plan, prepare and assesswork in line with departmental and school expectations.
  • TeachSpanish from Year 7 to A Level, preparing pupils for internal and external examinations.
  • Monitorpupil progress, maintain accurate records and provide timely feedback to pupils and parents.
  • Contributeto the development of schemes of work and teaching resources within the department.
  • Supportthe pastoral life of the School, including acting as a form or co-tutor.
  • Engagein co-curricular activities and contribute to the wider life of the School.
  • Attenddepartmental meetings, Parents’ Evenings and key School events.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Knowledge & Experience

  • Strong subject knowledgein Spanish and familiarity with GCSE and A Level specifications.
  • Understanding of how pupils learnand develop across a range of ages and abilities.
  • Experience (or potential) to teach Spanishacross KS3–KS5, including A Level.
  • Ability to assess pupil work effectivelyand use assessment to inform teaching.

Skills

  • Excellent classroom managementand the ability to engage and motivate pupils.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skillswith pupils, parents and colleagues.
  • Organisational skillsto effectively manage planning, marking and administrative duties.
  • Ability to adapt teachingto meet diverse learning needs.
