Ours is a collaborative school, with colleagues within and across departmentssupporting one another in the planning of schemes of work or provision of resources, as well as thedevelopment of teaching and learning.As a classroom teacher, you will be working with groups across the school, from Years 7 to 13, responsible for theprogression of students, in line with departmental approaches and in preparation for any public examinations.This will include the monitoring of academic progress of students, the provision of regular feedback and therefining of approaches in response to student progression where appropriate.All teaching members of staff are also expected to be form tutors, working closely with students in your tutorgroup to monitor their pastoral care and well-being. A student’s definition of success is their own, but what we instill in them is a feeling that theirsights should never be lowered by external forces.Redmaids’ High is an inclusive community, based on happiness, aspiration, and support for others.Our CurriculumIn Years 7 and 8 students follow a Mastery course, which we have designed in-house.In Year 9 students will begin the Pearson/Edexel IGCSE syllabus, covering most topics from the foundationcontent as well as some of the higher topics.In Years 10 and 11 students will prepare for the Pearson Edexcel IGCSE, with the two parallel top setsstudying the content of the AQA Level 2 certificate in Further Maths alongside.A-Level Maths and Further Maths - OCR B (MEI)AQA –Level 3 Certificate Mathematical StudiesSixth Form students preparing for competitive university places are offered weekly lunch time sessions tohelp them prepare for various entrance exams, such as the TMUA, the ESAT and STEP.How We WorkWe set high expectations for our students and give them the tools they need to be successful.Carefully chosen modelled examples, retrieval practice and interleaving are integral in our lesson planning.Resources are selected to ensure that all students are appropriately challenged, gain experience in problemsolving and working in unfamiliar contexts.Students are expected to work on areas of relative weakness, and we support them by setting targetedintervention work and running weekly Maths Clinics.We make extensive use of Dr Frost and other online websites to carefully tailor our lessons and homeworkactivities, ensuring that all classes achieve the right level of challenge. The feedback helps us monitor ourstudents’ performance and plan future lessons.We offer lunchtime and other extra-curricular activities, such as Maths club for Year 7-9, and our ablestudents in Years 8-11 are encouraged to take part in the UKMT Mentoring schemes.
