Teacher of Greek (Maternity Cover)
We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced teacher for the above position. The successful candidate will teach Greek to pupils in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, including Greek for bilingual learners and Greek for foreign language learners. The successful candidate must be proficient in written and spoken Greek and English and eligible to work in Greece. A recognised university degree in Greek Language, Greek Literature, Primary Education, or a closely related field, together with an appropriate teaching qualification, is essential for this role.
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years’ teaching experience in a relevant setting (or equivalent strong ECT/NQT experience where applicable), ideally within a primary or international school environment, and familiarity with the National Curriculum for England. Experience in planning engaging lessons, supporting pupils’ language development, and fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment will be considered a strong advantage.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, strong classroom management, creativity in teaching, and a commitment to supporting pupils’ academic and personal development. A competitive remuneration package will be offered.

Type of contract: 1-year fixed-term maternity cover, Full-time
Hours: 8:15am – 3:45pm including a 30-minute break, Monday to Friday inclusive

Position Overview:
The Teacher of Greek is responsible for delivering engaging and effective Greek language lessons to pupils in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, supporting their linguistic, academic, and personal development.
Working closely with the Lower School Greek Coordinators and the wider Lower School team, the successful candidate will create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that fosters curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning, while ensuring high standards of teaching, behaviour, and pupil progress.
The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, creativity, flexibility, and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning, and will contribute positively to the wider life of the school.

Teaching & Learning
Teach Greek to pupils in KS1 and KS2 in line with school policies and the National Curriculum for England.
Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons in collaboration with the Lower School Subject Leader.
Prepare schemes of work and relevant planning documentation.
Differentiate teaching to meet the educational needs of all pupils and promote their intellectual, personal, and social development.
Create a positive and purposeful classroom environment with high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement.
Support pupils’ wellbeing and encourage confidence, independence, and positive attitudes towards learning.
Commitment to maintaining up-to-date subject knowledge and awareness of curriculum developments.
Assessment, Recording & Reporting
Assess, monitor, and record pupils’ progress and attainment.
Provide clear oral and written feedback, reports, and assessments for pupils and parents in line with school expectations.
Use assessment to inform teaching and support pupil progress.
Communication & Collaboration
Maintain positive and professional communication with parents, carers, colleagues, and external professionals where appropriate.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Lower School and contribute to departmental and whole-school initiatives.
Participate in staff meetings, pastoral discussions, and other school events as required.
Promote and uphold the school’s Vision, Values, and ethos.
Administration & Organisation
Undertake administrative and organisational responsibilities related to the role, including attendance registration and classroom resource management.
Manage or supervise support staff working within the classroom where appropriate.
Ensure the effective care, organisation, and maintenance of teaching resources.

Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding, student welfare, and professional conduct at all times.

Person Specification
Essential
Relevant teaching degree in Greek Language, Greek Literature, Primary Education, or a related field.
