Teaching Vacancies

Teacher of English

Teacher of English
From September 2026

Closing Date: Noon, 18th March 2026

From September 2026

Millfield is seeking to appoint a full-time Teacher of English from September 2026. We are looking for an organised, dynamic and enthusiastic teacher with a genuine passion for English and the ability to inspire students across a wide range of ages and abilities. The successful candidate will be able to teach English Literature to at least GCSE level. Experience of teaching A Level or supporting students with additional educational needs would be of interest, although it is not essential.

The English & Media Department is a large but close-knit team of sixteen full-time and two part-time teachers. Six members of the department hold paid responsibilities, including leadership of GCSE English, A Level English, Year 9 English, Media Studies and Learning Support English. The department prides itself on its collaborative ethos, supportive working culture and commitment to high-quality, innovative teaching.

The curriculum offered is varied and engaging. In Year 9, students follow half-termly schemes of work created within the department, with scope for teacher creativity. In Years 10 and 11, students take Edexcel IGCSE English Language and IGCSE English Literature. In the Sixth Form, they can study CIE International A Level English Literature and Media Studies.

Class sizes are intentionally small, typically ranging from 12 to 15 students. This enables teachers to develop strong relationships with learners and to provide highly personalised support that allows every student to thrive. The department is a rewarding place to work, offering both professional challenge and the opportunity to make a real difference.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher to join one of the UK’s leading schools, working with motivated students in a well-resourced, stimulating and encouraging environment.

**Please note that applications will be considered on receipt, and as a result the vacancy may close early should an appointment be made. As such we would recommend submitting your application as soon as possible**

We encourage applications online wherever possible. To apply, please click here to register your email address and password on the online portal. Please contact us at recruitment@millfieldschool.com if you require support with completing your online application or require this in an alternative format.
