There is a possibility for a Headof Department position for the right candidate. The Department has an excellent record of academic success,and the successful candidate would be required to teachthroughout the 11 – 18 age range. We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic teacher to join the ArtDepartment. The successful candidate will have a passion for thesubject and an ambition to make positive steps in their teachingcareer.The Department The Art Department consists of 2 classrooms, one with ICT facilities.There is a modest textiles room, a kiln for ceramics and a largedesignated sixth form studio. During Key Stage 3 students have two single lessons per week inwhich pupils are offered a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculumthat nurtures student’s creative excellence by equipping them with awide range of skills using various media, materials and processes. Wealso work closely with our prep school to ensure a that we build onthe skills taught at Key Stage 2. At Key Stage 4 students have 3 x 1-hour lessons per week and followthe AQA Specification for Art, Craft and Design. Students can workwith more than one member of staff to explore a wide range ofprojects, themes and starting points, all of which are planned to meetthe GCSE assessment objectives and prepare students for thepractical examination in year 11.The Art DepartmentAt A Level students have 5 x 1-hour lessons per week. Students followthe AQA A Level Art Fine Art course. Students will be exposed to awide variety of exciting and challenging projects, based on a variety ofthemes. Students also get assistance with portfolio management,UCAS applications and career options. Our greatest asset is our ‘paststudents’ who come back to share their experiences. We have manystudents who have gone on to study architecture, interior design,graphic communication, just to name a few. Extra-Curricular Activities The Art department offers GCSE and A Level support sessions atlunchtimes and after school, where teaching staff are available forsupport & guidance and specialist equipment can be accessed. Thereare art workshops and a variety of art projects to participate in, whichbuild up over time to form an extensive art portfolio. Trips to galleries& museums run each year across all Key Stages, along with frequentArtist in Residences from local and national artists.
