Bloxham School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, organised and committed Swimming Programme Lead to oversee and develop our aquatic provision.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced swimming professional to take a leading role in the coordination and delivery of a high-quality swimming programme, supporting both participation and performance across the School. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping a positive and inclusive environment in which pupils of all abilities can develop confidence, competence and enjoyment in the water.

The Role:

Working within the PE Teaching Support Department and closely alongside the Director of Sport, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging swimming sessions across the School’s PE curriculum, games programme and co-curricular activities.
  • Oversee the organisation and administration of swimming fixtures.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of inter-house swimming galas, ensuring high levels of participation and smooth operation.
  • Coordinate swimming provision across year groups to ensure consistency, progression and appropriate challenge.
  • Maintain accurate records and undertake administrative duties associated with the swimming programme.
  • Communicate effectively with pupils, staff and other stakeholders regarding fixtures, events and provision.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting high standards of behaviour, participation and sportsmanship.
  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of the programme, including occasional variations to working hours.

This is a varied and rewarding role, combining hands-on coaching with programme coordination and organisation.

The Person:

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a Swim England Level 2 qualification (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrate a strong track record of swim teaching and coaching.
  • Be highly organised, with excellent time management and administrative skills.
  • Have strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Be confident using ICT and maintaining accurate records.
  • Be proactive, enthusiastic and professional in approach.
  • Be flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to contribute to wider school life.
  • Maintain high levels of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Experience working within a school environment and a lifeguarding qualification would be advantageous.

Working Arrangements:

  • Permanent, part time working term time only (34 weeks a year)
  • Average of 12 hours per week that may flex up or down over each term

  • £10,262 per annum including holiday pay (full time equivalent of £42,939)
