Supporting Youth Worker – Forward Vision Club (Jamie Simpson Trust)

Forward Vision Club is launching a new youth programme in Derby. It is seeking an experienced Supporting Youth Worker to support high-quality sessions for young people aged 8–18 who need positive role models, safe relationships, and opportunities to grow.

Rooted in the values of the Jamie Simpson Trust, the Club focuses on:

  • Early intervention and prevention
  • Emotional safety
  • Community connection and belonging
  • Youth voice, leadership, and aspiration

They anticipate that the Forward Vision Club will meet once a week on a Tuesday evening for approximately 2 to 2.5 hours for young people aged 8-11, followed by a second weekly session on Wednesday or Thursday evening for young people aged 12-15, with the potential to expand to a third evening if needed for teenagers aged 16-18.

About the Role
You will play a key role in delivering engaging sessions, supporting young people aged 8–18, and helping to shape a nurturing environment where they can thrive. This is hands‑on, heart‑led work ideal for someone who is passionate about youth development and understands the importance of consistency, boundaries, and encouragement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build trusting, professional relationships with young people
  • Help plan and deliver creative, structured activities
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive environment and uphold safeguarding procedures
  • Work collaboratively with volunteers, families, and partner organisations
  • Contribute to session planning, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Build positive, professional relationships with young people aged 8-18
  • Encourage participation, inclusion, and respect among all club members
  • Assist in creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment
  • Provide informal mentoring and emotional support to young people
  • Help manage behaviour in a calm and constructive manner
  • Support safeguarding practices and report any concerns appropriately
  • Assist with setting up and clearing away activities and equipment
  • Promote the club’s values, activities, and opportunities within the community
  • Promote inclusivity and diversity in line with our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy
  • The role may involve trips, events and outdoor activities

 What They're Looking For:

  • Experience working with young people in community, school, or youth settings
  • A calm, confident presence with strong communication skills
  • Ability to engage young people from diverse backgrounds
  • Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries
  • Creativity, reliability, and a genuine passion for youth empowerment
  • Willingness to work evenings and occasional weekends
  • Youth work qualification or training
  • First aid training

Desirable:

  • Able to drive
  • Mental health training
