2. JOB PURPOSE
To coordinate and develop Blythswood's Supported Trainee Programme at Deephaven, providing practical work experience, encouragement and tailored support to adults with learning disabilities and additional support needs. The postholder will enable trainees to develop confidence, independence and workplace skills while contributing to Blythswood's reuse activities, warehouse operations and Christian mission.

Plan, organise and supervise meaningful work activities for supported trainees, tailoring tasks to each individual's abilities, aspirations and support needs using a person-centred approach.

Coach, encourage and mentor supported trainees to develop confidence, independence and practical work skills.

Help to promote the supported trainee work internally and externally, encouraging referrals, volunteer involvement and community awareness.

Coordinate appropriate workplace training across warehouse activities, ensuring trainees gain practical skills safely and progressively.

Develop and expand the Supported Trainee Programme in line with agreed organisational objectives and available funding.

Maintain a short personal information pack for each supported trainee listing any special requirements, their needs, abilities and the ambitions of each person, whilst at all times complying with GDPR requirements and maintaining strict confidentiality.

Maintain monthly statistics of total supported trainee days for the month.

Ensure a safe, respected, celebratory and inclusive working environment. With regular certificates of achievement and times of celebration organised for their work. which include

Develop and deepen partnerships with local disability organisations, charities, social work teams, referral agencies, schools and churches to enhance referral pathways.

Work with the Blythswood retail team, to grow income from shop sales of books, online book, DVD and CD sales, so enhancing the project's financial sustainability.

Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and safe working practices

Health & Safety - Maintain a safe working environment. Report hazards, incidents, and maintenance issues, liaising with the Health & Safety Officer as required

Safeguarding - Promote safeguarding best practice and report any concerns in accordance with Blythswood's safeguarding procedures.

Reviews - Meet regularly with trainees, carers and referring organisations to review progress and agree support needs.

Risk Assessments Contribute to the assessment and management of risks relating to supported trainees, ensuring appropriate controls are implemented and concerns reported promptly.

Reporting - Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring and evaluation of the Supported Trainee Programme.

7. PERSON SPECIFICATION
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
NB: Training is provided and ongoing in all aspects of the position.
Essential

Ability to encourage and support people to develop confidence and practical skills.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

A patient, positive and encouraging approach.

Basic awareness of health and safety in the workplace.

Sympathy with the Christian vision, mission and values of Blythswood Care.

PVG Scheme membership (or willingness to join).
Preferred 1. Experience supporting people with learning disabilities or additional support needs.

Experience in a warehouse, retail or practical working environment.

Experience supervising, mentoring or coaching others.

Experience working with volunteers.

Full UK driving licence
