About the Role

We are looking for a caring and dedicated Support Worker to join our team supporting one gentleman in his 60s who lives independently. He has a profound learning disability and cerebral palsy and communicates without words, instead using eye contact, smiles, and visual choices to express himself. He enjoys being around people and is happiest when actively engaged. His interests include tractors, music (especially brass bands), puzzles, people watching, and going out for drives.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will provide full support with routines and throughout the night support when required, alongside supporting him to access his local community and enjoy his interests. You will work as part of a team, particularly when supporting with moving and assisting, you will also be supporting with PEG feeding and medication, with full training provided.

The role is contracted at 18 hours per week and includes a combination of shifts such as two late shifts (15:00–22:00), one sleep-in and an early morning support (07:00–09:00), There may also be opportunities to work additional day shifts such as Wednesdays, Saturdays, or Sundays.

This is a highly person-centred role were building a trusting relationship and providing meaningful engagement is key.

About You

You will be someone who is compassionate, patient, and attentive, with a genuine desire to provide high-quality, person-centred support. You will feel comfortable supporting someone with complex needs and enjoy taking the time to understand non-verbal communication, responding to visual cues, and building strong connections.

You will be confident working as part of a team, particularly when supporting with moving and assisting, and proactive in ensuring the person you support is engaged, comfortable, and enjoying their day. A calm and observant approach is essential, along with the ability to adapt to changing needs.

A full UK driving licence is essential, and you must be confident driving a manual vehicle, as you will be driving the gentleman’s car to support him to access the community. You do not need your own vehicle for this role.
