Job Description
Support Worker – MacIntyre
Real support isn't about doing things for someone. It's about doing things alongside them.
Maybe you've worked in health and social care for a while and know how much staffing levels and time constraints can shape what a shift actually looks like. Or maybe you've never worked in the sector at all, but you've spent years behind a shop counter, a bar, a hotel front desk, or a warehouse floor, learning how to read a room, keep your cool, and treat people with patience and respect. Either way, you're exactly who we're looking for.
Why MacIntyre
We hire for values first. Our vision is simple: for every person with a learning disability to live a life that makes sense to them, full of connection, choice, and their own gifts, skills and passions put to good use. We call it living a gloriously ordinary life, and as a Support Worker, you'll help make that happen every single day.
What the job looks like
You'll be matched to support one person, with the time and structure to really get to know them, their sense of humour, their goals, and what a genuinely good day looks like from their point of view.
Some days that's a swim. Some days it's cooking together, a bus into town, or celebrating a goal they've worked hard to reach. Other days, it's just being the steady presence in the room while someone tackles something outside their comfort zone. It's about building real relationships and helping people connect with their community, in whatever way matters most to them.
If you're new to support work
You don't need experience, you need the right instincts, and we'll build the rest. Every Support Worker gets full training from day one, plus a fully funded Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care
Still weighing it up?
Call us for a no-obligation chat on 01908 357016. We're happy to answer any questions and help you figure out if MacIntyre is the right fit for you.
Someone's next chapter is waiting for the right person to walk alongside them. This could be you.
