Support Worker
We live in a lovely four-bedroom bungalow, we each have our own bedrooms. There are four of us we all have very different personalities, and it makes our home very diverse and person centred.
In our home we all share the kitchen, living room and we have a new sensory room which staff are currently working on. We like to watch TV, films and chat whilst in these rooms. We also like to work together to cook in the kitchen and we often eat together at the table.
We have a lovely big garden at the back of our house which we love to spend time having barbeques and playing games in during summer. Our house is on a quiet road, with lots of bus routes, a shopping area and a park close by. We have a driveway for off street parking.
We all have a learning disability, autism, downs syndrome and some of us require support with our mobility.
Depending on the day, we usually have between 2-4 staff members on shift at any time. We all have 1-1 support on different days of the week and two of us currently go to day centre, so staffing numbers during the day often varies. Overnight we have two staff members on waking night shifts.
Day shifts at run from 07:30-21:30, and night shifts are from 21:30-07:30.
Our staff team are trained in Positive Behavioural Support, Makaton, MAPA, learning disabilities and Medication administration, along with other training to help them support our needs.
