About us
Looking for a rewarding career in Social Care?
At Sense Scotland, we take pride in supporting people with learning disabilities and additional support needs to live fulfilling, happy lives and achieve their own ambitions. Our work is built around strong values, meaningful relationships and creating positive, person-centred experiences that are tailored to each individual’s needs, preferences and goals.
We are currently recruiting 2 x 30-hour Support Workers to join our Dundee Respite Team. This is a fully flexible role, working across a rota including early and late shifts, sleepovers, night shifts, weekends and public holidays.
Please note and consider before applying:
- This is a driver essential role and only those with a full UK manual driving licence will be considered.
- We do NOT currently offer visa sponsorship for our vacancies and would therefore ask that you do not apply if you require sponsorship.
About the service
Dundee Respite is a 3-bed, 24-hour service supporting individuals with a range of complex needs, including communication support, behavioural support and sensory impairment. We provide respite breaks 7 days a week, all year round.
Our aim is to deliver a fun, stimulating and person-centred service that is individually tailored, developed in partnership with the people we support and their families, ensuring each person’s voice, choices and outcomes are at the heart of everything we do. People are supported to enjoy a wide range of activities both within the service and out in the community, while also developing independence and life skills at their own pace—meaning no two days are ever the same.
Who we are looking for
The people we support are looking for staff who are fun, creative and enthusiastic about planning activities that reflect their individual interests, routines and choices. They enjoy getting out and about and trying new things – from trips to the cinema, feeding the ducks at the park, to even heading on a bus trip to Arbroath for lunch.
They are also looking for someone who is patient, caring and understanding, who can adapt their approach to suit each individual, promote independence, and provide consistent, reassuring support with daily routines. This includes support with personal care, medication and ensuring they feel safe both within the service and when out in the community.
About you
At Sense Scotland, what matters most is that you have a genuine passion for making a difference in someone’s life by providing care that is respectful, empowering and tailored to the individual.
You will:
- Be positive, reliable and a strong team player
- Be able to communicate well and use your initiative
- Be organised and able to support structured routines
- Be caring, patient and understanding
- Have a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and develop
- Be committed to deliver person-centred support, recognising and responding to each individual’s unique needs, preferences and aspirations
If you’re passionate about supporting people to live meaningful lives and take part in activities they love, while building strong, positive relationships, this role is for you.
Whether you already have experience in social care or are looking for a new, rewarding career, we would love to hear from you.
