Havencare is a forward-thinking and growing charity. We have been making a difference for 35 years, changing the lives of people who have learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries, and other support needs. Our big aims include every person having a home that is right for them, and support for the life they choose.

At Havencare, first and foremost, we are looking for outstanding people who align with our values of Transparency, Quality and Engagement.

We are looking for enthusiastic, resourceful and forward-thinking people and are excited to be recruiting Support Workers to work with the people we support within our Plymouth Homes.

About the Role:

We are currently seeking a Support Worker for a 38-year-old active sociable gentleman who has a learning disability and autism. The successful applicant will be working in a supported Living Plymouth service, supporting an individual living in his own flat who receives 2:1 support.

We are looking to recruit an individual who is upbeat and enjoys a laugh and joke as this gentleman has a brilliant sense of humour and enjoys laughing with his support team. You will have a positive attitude and can adapt to the different requirements of the role – enabling the individual to participate in a range of activities in the community, promoting independence in the home, providing personal care. We are looking for individuals who are interested in the function of (reason for) distressed behaviors and who will employ the principles of positive behavioral support. L needs someone who can articulate clearly and adapt quickly

Every day is different when working with this gentleman and we are keen to recruit someone who is flexible and will take a person-centered approach – one day you may find yourself assisting him to go swimming at Tinside Lido, another day assisting him to attend the theatre to watch various shows, go out for lunch and attend discos.

We are looking for motivators, who can provide ‘just enough support’ to promote greater independence in the people we support, enabling them to achieve their individual outcomes (goals) and ultimately to live the lives they wish to lead.

For occupational requirement reasons we are looking to appoint a Male only for this post (exemption under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9). We are also looking to recruit a driver as the gentleman has his own car so staff would need to have a full UK driving license to be able to support him to access his wider community.
