Havencare is a forward-thinking and growing charity. We have been making a difference for 35 years, changing the lives of people who have learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries, and other support needs. Our big aims include every person having a home that is right for them, and support for the life they choose.

At Havencare, first and foremost, we are looking for outstanding people who align with our values of Transparency, Quality and Engagement.

We are looking for enthusiastic, resourceful and forward-thinking person and are excited to be recruiting a Support Worker to support PASR within our service in St Agnes.

About the Role:

This role requires a driver with a full UK manual driving licence, as driving the mobility vehicle is an essential part of supporting the individual.

The individual enjoys watching TV shows and particularly likes Horrid Henry. He also enjoys using his iPad and is able to type what he wants to watch into the search engine. He would often spend a lot of time watching YouTube clips of trains, doctors, news clips and cartoons. He is passionate about trains and will spend ages looking at books or magazines about them, watching clips repeatedly on YouTube. As expected, he loves to visit the train station to watch them too and will do this as much as he can. He wants his support staff to check the train times, so he knows how many he's likely to see and what trains are expected to pass through or stop while he is at the station. One of his favourite rides is the Truro to Penzance, after which he would choose to walk into town or over to Marazion. This individual is interested in going on the train all the way to Paddington and hopes this can be achieved soon.

He has diagnosis of autism, and learning disability, and takes regular prescribed medication. He is a bright and intelligent individual who communicates his wants, choices, likes, and dislikes clearly and confidently. Although this individual may sometimes present with behaviours that are challenging, he is supported with his medication and benefits from regular reassurance to ensure he feels safe and less anxious.

He enjoys been tickled by his support staff as part of his sensory needs and is actively supported by his team to encourage his independence and autonomy.

The ideal support worker will be reliable, patient, and reassuring, with a genuine interest in promoting independence, supporting decision‑making, and enabling him to continue enjoying an active and fulfilling lifestyle centered around his interests.
