Support Worker
Who we Are
In this service there are 5 adults aged between 20 & 40, we all live in our own apartments but share a communal lounge downstairs.
They live with a variety of different behaviour challenges and all need support to live independently. They all have capacity but are still vulnerable.
We are looking for support workers who are understanding, patient and friendly.
We do have people that hoard and need help with this. One of the gentleman does like a drink most days and games at night, he is harmless but can be verbal. We have a young lady who finds it hard to engage with people and needs encouragement and support with this.
We train staff in medications and finance support to support 1 person and need to prompt with personal care.
All the people we support are individuals and have different goals. Being a Support Worker here is about spending time and building relationships so we learn individual needs and know what each person needs supporting in, reading care plans and encouraging each person to try new things, learn new skills and reach their goals however big or small they are.
They live in a 4 storey Victorian house which has 5 flats and a sleep room for staff in the basement.
The ground floor has 2 flats and the second floor has 2 more then 1 on the top floor.
The house is on a busy main road but we have parking at the back and front.
Right outside there is a bus stop with buses run every 10 mins.
There are lots of stairs so you will need to have good mobility.
We have 1 member of staff on each day from 10am sleep in and finish at 10am the next day
We also have 1 member of staff that works 1:1 for 5 hours and also supports everyone else for 5 hours per day as her core hours
