Arran is a young man who lives in his own home. Arran enjoys being out and about meeting friends and going out for meals. Arran also enjoys swimming, visiting the driving range and ten pin bowling. Arran loves the soaps on TV and spending time on his iPad.

Arran requires Support Practitioners who;

  • Share similar interests
  • Are patient
  • Have a sense of humour
  • Are resilient

Essential for the role is that you can demonstrate the following:

  • Flexible in working times as post includes evening, week end working and overnight support
  • Understand how to work in a person centred way
  • Understand all behaviour is communication
  • Ability to motivate
  • Flexible approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Work on own initiative and as part of the team
  • A suitable licence to drive Arran’s mobility car

Desirable

  • SVQ Level 2/3 in Social Care (or equivalent) or willing to work towards this

This role involves shift work including evening, weekends, sleepovers and public holidays.

You should also have experience of or a real interest in supporting people with disabilities to develop new skills.

You can only be appointed for this post if you are registered with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme and are able to register with the Scottish Social Services Council when required for your post.
