Job Description and Person Specification Support Officer Introduction Bath Preservation Trust advocates for sustainable development and design excellence which enhances and enables the amenity of the city of Bath and the ability for it to flourish positively now and for the future. The exemplary historic centre is fundamental to its importance but there is also the need for sustainable development and growth of the city. BPT is central to that process and has been providing informed advice, guidance and responses to proposals for more than 90 years. This role will be providing support to the Design, Conservation and Sustainability Manager and the Placemaking Research Officer, in the delivery of a busy and varied workload in the unique double- inscribed World Heritage city of Bath. Job Purpose The Support Officer will provide essential administrative and research support to a professional team working on projects related to the built environment. The role involves managing some digital resources, coordinating information requests, maintaining the team’s online presence, and supporting meetings. The role will also be responsible for responding to enquiries from members and the public as required. Terms Location: Schoolhouse, Countess of Huntingdon’s Chapel, Paragon, Bath BA1 5NW Reports to: Design, Conservation and Sustainability Manager Contract: Part-time, 0.5 FTE – 17.5 hours per week. Permanent following satisfactory completion of six-month probationary period. Salary: £22,848 (£12.60 per hour) per annum, pro rata. Purpose of the Role Key Responsibilities • Research Support • Assist in gathering, organizing, and summarizing data for ongoing projects. • Support literature reviews and preparation of reports or presentations. • Administrative Duties • Take accurate minutes during meetings and distribute them promptly. • Manage digital filing systems to ensure documents are organized and accessible. • Handle incoming information requests and respond in a timely manner. • Website and Communication • Update and maintain the team’s website with current content, news, and resources. • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate information flow. • Respond to enquiries from the general public. • General Clerical Tasks • Schedule meetings and manage calendars. • Prepare and format documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. • Provide ad hoc administrative support as required. Working Relationships • Collaborates closely with researchers, project managers, and administrative staff. • Acts as a point of contact for external inquiries related to the team’s work. Person Specification Essential Criteria • Education & Knowledge • Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field. • Basic understanding of built environment concepts and terminology. • Skills & Competencies • Strong organisational and time-management skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital filing systems. • Ability to update and manage website content (basic CMS experience preferred). • Attention to detail and accuracy in minute-taking and document preparation. • Personal Attributes • Fundamental commitment to the principles of EDI and responsibility, appropriate to the post for tackling racism and promoting good race, ethnic and community relations. • Proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a team. • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities. • Professional and approachable.
