Support for Learning Assistant (Term Time) 0.2 FTE / 7 hrs per week (Fixed Term until end Dec 2026)

You will support the students who require additional learning and behavioural assistance within the faculty.  The post holder will also be required to support teaching and learning activities such as scribing, preparing materials for classroom activities and distributing equipment and learning materials.
 

Due to the nature of this role you will need to be on campus 1 day a week (currently Tuesday) and may be required to work at any of our 3 campuses (depending on the needs of the service). You will also be required to provide support to students on educational outings. This post is Term Time. The salary will be pro rata/term time.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves enabling students to overcome restrictions or difficulties, including mobility problems, encountered as a result of their disabilities; facilitate and promote maintenance of students’ independence, via monitoring of issues related to conduct and transport; provide supervision of students during non-class times, on arrival or departure, during breaks and at lunch times; facilitate liaison with parents or carers, external agencies and partner providers on behalf of programme leaders; arrange student transportation in collaboration with programme leaders, students, carers or external agencies.  

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

You will have experience of working within a learner support environment and ideally you will have a valid First Aid Certificate or be willing to undertake this training.  We need you to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills; the ability to work independently with limited supervision and use your initiative.  You will work as part of a team which includes Lecturing staff and have the ability to maintain good working relationships.
