The below information regarding our Support Assistant role is also applicable to student placements.  

JOB SPECIFICATION : TUTOR (Teaching Assistant) Hours:Monday to Friday 10.00am to 2.30pmDirect Supervisor:Class LeaderSchool year:Approx. 42 weeks a year across three terms.Location:Grinstead Lane, Sharpthorne, East Sussex, RH19 4HPProbation period:Six months

A typical day

  • Prepare and supervise snack and lunch times
  • Support pupils and staff during behaviours that challenge
  • Provide personal care when required e.g toileting, feeding
  • Make resources for the class and around the school e.g. displays where required
  • Ensure the class is tidy and adhering to Health & Safety standards and log findings
  • Conduct weekly teaching sessions with pupils assigned to you
  • Provide cover across the school as and when needed
  • Update risk assessments, behaviour plans and specific teaching strategies for pupils being supported
  • Collect and record data showing evidence of pupils progress and upload to relevant platform
  • Actively engage with your own professional development, evidencing progress in preparation for performance management meetings
  • Contribute to the wider development of the school by supporting our aims, vision and values
  • Undertake other duties as required
