Summer 2026 internship at CCLA
At CCLA, we offer exciting opportunities for individuals seeking to gain practical experience and develop their skills. We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals available during the summer period, with five placements available covering two projects over 4-24 weeks. Here’s what you can expect when you join our team:
- Real-World Experience: Immerse yourself in challenging projects that ignite creativity and innovation. You’ll gain valuable insights and hands-on experience, getting a taste of what it’s like to work in the industry.
- Development and Mentorship: Our commitment to your growth extends beyond the projects. You’ll receive mentorship and guidance as you hone your strengths, refine your skills, and build a solid foundation for your future success.
- London Office Engagement: To maximise your experience, you’ll be working full-time from our vibrant London office. Collaborate with colleagues, attend meetings and workshops, and engage in networking opportunities. Your presence here ensures you’ll be part of our dynamic team.
Our main project, with four available placements, is to work on our Modern Slavery Benchmark, which has become an important resource for investors, businesses, government and civil society actors wishing to understand how companies report on their forced labour and human rights performance.
In 2026, the CCLA Modern Slavery Benchmark (MSB) will assess 233 of the largest companies against a detailed set of metrics aligned with the UK Modern Slavery Act, UK Home Office guidance, as well as voluntary international best practice standards. Companies are provided a preliminary assessment report, given the opportunity to feedback, and then a final report to signal places for further improvement. The benchmark report, with a global and UK company ranking, will be published in December.
Working on this project will give interns a chance to contribute to a new, more stretching, framework that challenges companies to look for modern slavery risks throughout their value chains and demonstrates a clear path to improvement.
We also have a project within our Sustainability team which will review our holdings in funds managed by other asset managers to ensure they comply with our rules and our clients requirements.
These internships offer a rate above the London Living Wage and a weekly contribution towards travel costs. You will attend our office in the City of London, near Cannon Street, 5 days per week and will be supported by a supervisor/buddy as well as the wider team that you are placed with.
The MSB project will begin the first week of July and run for either 12 or 24 weeks, the Sustainability team project will run for 4 weeks and can be started during June, July or August.
What skills do you need?
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate attention to detail, competency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), good written communication skills, creativity, and a passion for this opportunity. Being able to think critically and having an ability to analyse large qualitative and quantitative datasets will be important, as well as an interest in working on projects with a positive social impact/and or passion for human rights within a business context.
Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I)
At CCLA, ED&I is an integral part of our culture and day-to-day operations. We are committed to fostering a workplace that embraces the unique perspectives and talents of every individual, creating an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered. We warmly welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experiences.
Application window
The application window is open from 6 March to midnight 6 April 2026. We reserve the right to close the application window sooner if we are oversubscribed, so early applications are encouraged. Applications received outside of this window will not be considered.
How to apply
Please send your CV and covering letter to recruitment@ccla.co.uk for consideration. HR will screen the applications during April to identify appropriate candidates, and the outcome will be communicated to applicants by early May. In your covering letter, we encourage you to highlight your strengths, skills, and abilities to help us determine which of our available projects suit you best, as well as your answers to the questions below.
If there is a particular project that you are interested in or a length of project that you would prefer, let us know in your covering letter, but note that we may not always be able to accommodate this preference. If there is a period that you will not be available, also advise us of this in your covering letter to avoid unnecessary disappointment.
To be considered for an internship, you must have the right to work in the UK.
Finally, we request that you answer the following questions in 250-300 words each. Your application will not be considered if you do not answer the questions:
- In what ways do you think you could add value to CCLA?
- Tell us about an interesting project, achievement or piece of work you are most proud of and why.
- Describe a passion of yours.
Note: We know that AI is an increasingly useful tool and we’re happy for you to use it to research and help form an answer, but you should not submit wholly AI-generated answers – this will be checked!
What happens next
We will review all applications after the application window has closed, and shortlisted candidates will be contacted to arrange a Teams call with the project manager. The outcomes will be communicated to all applicants by Friday 15 May 2026.
About CCLA
CCLA was born out of an aspiration to provide responsibly managed, cost-efficient investments for charities and churches across the UK. From humble beginnings, CCLA has become the largest manager of charitable assets in the UK (as reported in the Fund Management Survey 2023 published by Charity Finance). We aim to continue to grow the business by providing products and services that strive for strong long-term performance, are fairly priced and protect the reputation of our investors.
Our distinctive heritage and approach to managing investments on behalf of not-for-profit organisations led us to extend our investment capabilities to individual investors in 2022. This offering was created in response to growing demand from charity trustees for the kind of authentic ESG (environmental, social and governance) approach for which we are well-known and is an extension of our commitment to continue to support investors of all sizes.
Join CCLA and embark on a journey of growth, learning, and impact!
