About the role
We are seeking applications for the post of Study Director within the Aquaculture Division of Moredun Scientific Limited (a commercial subsidiary of the Moredun Foundation).
You will join a team of people involved in the conduct of Aquaculture studies evaluating vaccines, therapeutics and other fish health products for use in farmed fish. You will also be involved in the development and validation of relevant research models.

The post will involve the management of studies at an aquaculture research facility in Aberdeen and laboratory work at Moredun Scientific, Pentlands Science Park, near Edinburgh. Regular travel will be required between the sites and the post holder can be based at either site.
You will act in the role of Study Director/Investigator for studies appropriate to your level of experience. In addition, you will be required to play a supporting role in other studies with requirements ranging from those of routine laboratory and live-phase support to those where the job holder is expected to develop areas of expertise and in turn assume responsibility for these specific work areas.
The role will involve occasional weekend work, for which additional payment is made.
Experience required
To be considered for this role, you should have;

- A biological degree.
- Contract Research or Project Management experience
- Practical experience of working with fish pathogens.
- Experience of working with finfish (preferably salmonids) in a research setting.
- Experience of working in a biological laboratory environment.
- A good understanding of research quality management systems (eg VICH-GCP, GLP)
- Knowledge of the aquaculture industry.
- A good understanding of fish infectious diseases and the use of challenge models
- Good interpersonal and communications skills and effective organisational abilities.
- A clean driving licence.
In addition the following would be advantageous:
- Home office individual licence holder training
- Knowledge of regulatory guidelines for safety and efficacy studies for veterinary medicinal products.
