Student Assistant

At the Chair of Entrepreneurial Finance and Corporate Finance (Prof. Dr. Axel Buchner) at ESCP Business
School, Campus Berlin one position is available to be filled by April/June 2026:

Student Assistant (all genders)
10 hours per week | limited to 3 months | in Berlin | 14,32 €/hour

We conduct both empirical and theoretical research in the areas of entrepreneurial finance, venture capital,
private equity, and corporate finance. Our research philosophy is that empirical research should be guided by
rigorous economic theory and theoretical research should be inspired by and help to explain empirical facts.
The research of the chair has been published in leading academic journals. Current research topics include:
What is the risk and return of private equity investments? How can investors include private equity in a multi-
asset class portfolio? What drives private-equity performance persistence? Private Equity debt funds: who
wins and who loses?

We are looking for self-motivated, highly active and productive students, who are eager to gain first
experience in research at one of the leading European business schools as well as support the chair in
administrative topics.

Tasks
• Support in research projects and publications
• Participation in the execution and analysis of data collection
• Assistance in preparing teaching events
Internet research as well as research in online databases
•
• Procurement of literature from libraries and online databases
• Ad-hoc administrative support

Requirements
• Students (Bachelor or Master) preferably with an academic focus on finance (or strong interest in finance)
• Proficient in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (MATLAB or Python a plus)
• Experience in internet and literature research
• Excellent verbal and written skills in English, German skills desired but not required
• Reliability, self-initiative, sense of responsibility, commitment, and attention to detail
