Student Advisor ( 2 x Part-time positions over 42 weeks)

Applications are invited for the post of Student Advisor within the Student Services department at Harper Adams University. The successful candidate will work as part of the frontline Harper Information Point service, providing welcoming, effective and efficient information, advice and guidance to students across a wide range of student life and support matters. The role will involve supporting students to access appropriate services and opportunities, including wellbeing, accommodation, financial support, student engagement activity, University procedures and specialist support services. The postholder will also contribute to proactive campaigns and initiatives that promote student engagement, belonging, wellbeing, retention and success.

A key element of the role will be supporting under-represented student groups and students at risk of disengagement, working with colleagues across the University to promote participation, continuation and student success. The postholder will use student insight, data and feedback to inform service improvements and targeted early interventions.

The successful candidate will also contribute to transition and induction activity, including Open Days, Offer Holder Days, Arrivals Day, Welcome Week and Wobble Week, as well as providing financial guidance and support, international student advice, student communications and wider operational support within Student Services.

Experience/Qualifications:

We are seeking a proactive and approachable individual with experience in a busy customer-facing environment, providing advice, guidance and support to a diverse range of people. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organisational abilities and the confidence to manage a varied workload.

Experience of supporting students or young people, promoting engagement and fostering a sense of belonging would be advantageous. Applicants should be educated to degree level (or equivalent) or be able to demonstrate relevant experience in a similar role. Experience within an educational setting, particularly higher education, and experience of delivering workshops, presentations or group activities would be beneficial.
