Job Description
Please note this is a hybrid role based on the successful candidate working at least two days a week in our London office. Remote contracts would not be considered for this role.

Purpose of job:
Responsible for mapping and analysing the external landscape, and Comic Relief’s own learnings, to uncover key trends, identify opportunities, and inform strategic decisions for the organisation, acting as a trusted advisor to the Fundraising team and beyond, by translating data into actionable recommendations. The Strategic Insights Manager, working with the Senior Audience Strategist and Fundraising Innovation Lead, will conduct research projects, support the organisation in recognising opportunities to embed its audience strategy, collaborating with various teams. The Strategic Insights Manager will play a crucial role in building the culture of innovation at Comic Relief.
Key responsibilities:
Landscape mapping and trend watching

Monitoring the external charity landscape (and beyond) to ensure Comic Relief is informed about trends, opportunities for growth and potential collaborations, working with the Fundraising Innovation Lead to help actively develop an innovation pipeline

Producing regular reports for Comic Relief which brings the above to life, demonstrating what it means, or could mean, for the charity.

Partnering with teams across Comic Relief to share information, produce reports and inform planning – this could include supporting with partner prospecting and pitching, sharing trends in digital content production with Comic Relief’s internal Production team or working with the Funding team to understand current issues impacting and engaging the UK public.
Campaign Strategy

Working with the Campaign Strategy and Planning team, to provide insights and data to support the development of fundraising campaign strategies, drawn from external sources and internal insights and learnings.

Operating as part of the ‘core campaign group’ on campaigns, including Red Nose Day, Sport Relief, and Winter, providing an essential picture of the ‘state of the nation’ to inform direction and thinking.
Audience Strategy

Working with the Senior Audience Strategist to facilitate the adoption of Comic Relief’s audience strategy across the organisation, ensuring fundraising plans are insight and audience led.

Supporting with monitoring impact and results of how this strategy is being deployed across teams.
Person specification
Essential criteria
-
Experience of landscape mapping, and analysing trends and data across multiple priorities, with the ability to communicate these to a range of stakeholders.
-
Experience preparing engaging reports and presentations, to bring information to life for a range of stakeholders.
-
Ability to distil information into meaningful and relevant insights and recommendations to inform decision making.
-
Effective relationship building with strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
-
Ability to adapt to different communication styles and ways of working to meet the needs of a wide variety of stakeholders (internal and external).

Experience of working proactively to spot opportunities, and influence stakeholders.
-
Experience leveraging different analytical tools.

Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Experiencing working directly with agency partners to commission, manage and report on market research projects.
Desirable criteria
-
Experience of working in insights and data within a fundraising setting, with knowledge of relevant sources and contacts for mining data.

Experience of presenting insights and information to a wide range of stakeholders, both in writing, and face-to-face.

Experience and understanding of audience strategy, and audience led decision making and planning.

Strong understanding of media channels including social media and emerging platforms.

Creative ideas on how to grow audiences.
