About us
The CRUK Scotland Institute is a cancer research institute, situated in Glasgow with approximately 250 researchers split across 30 research groups consisting of PIs, postdoctoral scientists, PhD students and scientific officers. It is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres, supporting cutting-edge work into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development. As well as core support from Cancer Research UK, the Institute also receives an additional third of its total income from external grants and industry collaborations. It has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis.
Position outline
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join one of our Scientific Support teams, you will work closely with other team members to help provide and maintain an efficient service to the Institute. The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, due to the customer facing service role that this position is within. The candidate should have experience of working in a service type role or small team, be adaptable to change, be capable of working in a fast-paced environment and have a full current clean driver’s license.
The candidate will be responsible for receipt of deliveries, printing and scanning goods received notes, delivering parcels to end users and dealing with telephone and email enquiries from external suppliers. The candidate will also be responsible for answering enquiries from users within the Institute on a daily basis, as well as general upkeep of the Stores department. There will also be driving jobs within and out with the Garscube Estate campus on an ad hoc basis.
Previous experience of working in a Stores/warehouse department not required as training will be done in-house.
Essential criteria
- Working as part of a team or experience in a service-based role.
- A full, current and clean UK driver’s license.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to undertake additional training for the role.
- Basic computer skills for record keeping
Desirable criteria
- Experience of making improvements within current or previous workplace.
- Experience of stock management.
- Manual handling experience.
- Understanding of dangerous goods and chemical safety.
