The Opportunity
The Staffing and Workforce Manager is responsible for sourcing, recruiting, and scheduling casual and variable staff for hospitality and stewarding roles. This position ensures that event and venue staffing requirements are met efficiently, while maintaining compliance and delivering an excellent candidate and client experience. The role is highly seasonal, with peak demand during major events, match days, and holiday periods.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead workforce planning and scheduling in collaboration with key stakeholders to forecast and deliver staffing requirements for seasonal peaks, major events and hospitality operations.
- Oversee rota management and staff allocation, ensuring the right mix of skills, flexibility for last-minute changes and efficient deployment of casual and agency workers.
- Manage end-to-end recruitment and onboarding of variable staff, building and maintaining a strong seasonal talent pool to meet operational demand.
- Ensure full compliance with employment legislation and industry regulations, including right-to-work checks, licensing requirements, GDPR and accurate record keeping.
- Develop and implement engagement and retention strategies to build loyalty, improve attendance and reduce turnover within the casual workforce.
- Act as the primary liaison for staffing agencies, managing performance against KPIs, confirming bookings, auditing compliance documentation and reconciling billing.
- Monitor and report on recruitment and workforce metrics, including fill rates, time-to-hire and attendance, providing insight and recommendations to senior management.
- Take operational leadership responsibility for staff conduct, compliance risks and workforce-related issues, escalating concerns where appropriate.
- Support financial performance by managing staffing budgets, controlling third-party costs and driving efficiencies through effective rota planning without compromising service standards.
- Contribute to strategic workforce development by identifying opportunities for innovation, digital improvement and cross-department collaboration, while fostering a positive, inclusive and high-performing culture.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in workforce or HR teams preferably across sport events, stadiums, or venues
- Strong understanding of temporary worker and right to work compliance standards.
- Proven track record in financial management and business development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
