Staff Nurse – Nights
Due to retirement within the team, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a staff nurse to join our dedicated team providing excellent care for adults with neurological conditions.
The Role
You will provide professional clinical nursing to our guests and ideally have a genuine passion and interest in working with neurological conditions.
This post is for 24 hours per fortnight, covering Sunday and Monday night shifts on a two-week rota.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred nursing care to guests
- Support all aspects of daily living, including personal care and nutrition
- Respond promptly to call bells and medical emergencies
- Administer medication in line with legislation and NMC guidelines
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records and care plans
- Continuously assess needs, implementing and reviewing care plans
- Contribute to shift handovers and ongoing care reviews
- Support emotional, pastoral and spiritual wellbeing of guests and families
- Promote dignity, independence, equality and choice at all times
Organisation & Coordination
- Support guest admissions and departures, ensuring a warm, welcoming experience
- Complete assessments and care plans on admission
- Liaise with GPs and healthcare professionals to coordinate ongoing care
- Support guest activities, outings and appointments
Team & Leadership
- Work collaboratively with care teams to maintain high standards
- Support, guide and develop staff, including training where required
- Assist with staffing levels and absence management
Quality & Safety
- Follow all Health & Safety, infection control and COSHH procedures
- Safely manage medication storage, administration and recording
- Report incidents, accidents and hazards appropriately
- Participate in audits and continuous improvement of care standards
General
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Engage in training, supervision and professional development in line with NMC requirements
- Undertake additional duties as required
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Nursing degree and current NMC registration
Experience & Knowledge
- Experience in a care or health setting
- Person-centred care experience
- Understanding of Health & Social Care Standards
- Experience supporting or leading teams (desirable)

Salary & Benefits
- Competitive salary – currently £22.79 per hour
- Guarantee of every 2nd weekend off with a Friday 1pm finish
- Overtime available at rate of time and a half
- Enhanced holiday pay of 7 weeks / 35 days per annum (pro rata)

Set in the beautiful East Lothian countryside we are a unique, friendly and caring independent charity providing short breaks for adults with long-term neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Stroke and Parkinson’s as well as respite for their carer’s.
We are the only service of our kind in Scotland and we aim to be more than just a change of caring environment instead offering a wonderful holiday experience, enabled by our 24-hour nursing and care team.
