Film Hub Scotland is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Spotlight Coordinator to lead the delivery of their new Spotlight on Fife and Clackmannanshire project (2026–29), funded by the BFI with National Lottery funding.
Spotlight is a place-based initiative designed to develop the capacity and confidence of local film exhibitors and potential new exhibitors in Fife and Clackmannanshire — an area with significant unmet demand for independent cinema and a large population currently underserved by screen culture provision. The Coordinator will be based at the Design Suite within the Adam Smith Theatre in Kirkcaldy, in partnership with OnFife (Fife Cultural Trust), and will work across the wider Fife and Clackmannanshire area.
This is a hands-on, developmental role. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the project’s plans, building a sustainable network of cinema venues and community cinemas, supporting and delivering screenings, facilitating knowledge exchange, and helping local organisations develop the skills and confidence to continue independent film exhibition beyond the Spotlight period. The project aims to support activity reaching a minimum of 10,000 admissions over three years.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify current organisations and levels of screening activity across Fife and Clackmannanshire to establish benchmarks and priorities for the project
- Build a supportive and cohesive network of cinema venues and community cinemas across the area
- Organise and deliver screenings — including using mobile projection equipment — in partnership with local communities and exhibitor groups
- Establish and facilitate knowledge exchange within the community cinema network
- Work with the wider Adam Smith Theatre/OnFife team to nurture relationships with local community cinema partners and key community groups
- Help the network build relationships with communities and audiences representative of the local population
- Fundraise for additional support to develop cinema activity in the area
- Coordinate expenditure of the Spotlight budget in agreement with the Film Hub Scotland Manager
- Contribute to programming ideas for co-produced events and equalities-driven cinema initiatives
- Advocate for the cultural, economic, and wellbeing benefits of cinema exhibition to local authorities and community organisations
- Undertake regular reporting on activity and, in Year 3, evaluate the project against its aims and targets
