About Sports Coach and Mentor for children and young people in Worcestershire
Hours: Flexible — from 2 hours per week up to several days
Location: Worcestershire (with some work in surrounding areas)
Contract: Self‑employed
About Us
Redgate Sports is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of children and young people through sport and mentoring. We work with children who are care‑experienced, have special educational needs, are at risk of exclusion, or come from low‑income families.
Due to growing demand and recent funding, we are looking for motivated, self‑employed Sports Coaches and Mentors to join our team in Worcestershire.
The Role
You will deliver high‑quality sports coaching and mentoring sessions in schools and community settings. The role involves supporting vulnerable children, helping them build confidence, develop skills, and experience the positive impact of sport.
A coach/mentor would normally have a sport they specialise in, however, all our coaches are asked to deliver a range of sports to meet the needs of our students.
There is no fixed venue — sessions take place across Worcestershire, with occasional work in nearby areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, high‑quality sports coaching sessions
- Build positive relationships with children and young people
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and mentoring support
- Manage your own schedule and adapt to the needs of schools and community partners
- Work collaboratively with the Redgate team to develop and improve programme delivery
Who We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience in sports coaching
- A genuine desire to make a difference in young people's lives
- Strong communication skills — patient, kind, and able to build rapport
- Full driving licence and ability to travel to multiple venues
- Willingness to work on a self‑employed basis
- Ability to obtain a satisfactory DBS check (supported during recruitment)
Desirable:
- Experience working with vulnerable children, young people, or those with SEND
- Youth work experience
- First Aid qualification (can be completed during recruitment)
Pay
We offer competitive hourly and daily rates based on qualifications and experience. All work is daytime and not weather‑dependent. Expenses paid.
Why Join Us?
- Make a real difference to children who are often excluded from sport
- Flexible daytime hours — ideal for coaches seeking more stable daytime work
- Be part of a supportive, passionate team committed to positive change
