An Introduction toMaltman’s GreenThe Role: Drama Teacher Through drama, music and dance, our pupils develop confidence, creativity and self expression, while learning valuable life skills such as teamwork, communication and leadership. From their earliest years, our girls are encouraged to explore their creative potential, with numerous opportunities to take to the stage and showcase their talents. The school enjoys state-of-the-art facilities including a purpose-built performing arts centre, with a performance space, tiered theatre seating, audio visual facilities, and a dance studio, providing the perfect environment for our girls to immerse themselves in the world of performing arts. Key Accountabilities To write schemes of work in Drama, with clear aims and outcomes and adaptations to enable all pupils to make progress in line with their potential To deliver inspiring and creative lessons to pupils in Drama, acting as a role model for colleagues and pupils, aspiring to excellence in all things To keep abreast of developments in the delivery of Drama, adapting the curriculum and schemes of work/ plans accordingly To track pupil progress and attainment in Drama and use appropriate methods to record and monitor this, setting targets and next steps and reporting on these to colleagues and parents To contribute to the subject development plan and whole school development plan Develop the use of transformational IT within Drama To work closely with the Head of Music in the direction, production and rehearsal of school plays, presentations and dramatic performances To actively contribute to the programme of extra-curricular clubs and activities Key Accountabilities continued... To promote girls’ participation in the LAMDA programme and delivering group sessions To identify and prepare pupils who are potential scholars at 11+ in Drama To contribute to the writing of references for pupils in relation to Drama, as directed by the Headmistress To develop and participate in cross curricular projects and schemes of work relating to Drama and other Performing Arts such as Music and Dance To arrange school trips and competitions relevant to Drama To contribute to the development of pupils who are more able in Drama Develop links with external bodies and specialist interest groups relating to Drama, including those associated with IAPS Work as a form teacher if required To undertake professional development and inset relating to the role and its delivery and actively participate in the school’s appraisal system To undertake any other duties deemed necessary by the Headmistress to be effective in the role Applicant Specification Qualifications PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification. Graduate in Drama or similar. ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE Evidence of further professional development, including coaching qualification and/or referee qualification Skills Positive ‘can do’ attitude. Able to prioritise and manage workloads, commitments and deadlines to secure successful outcomes. Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to deliver extra-curricular activities. Additional specialist skills in dance and/or musical theatre Experience in delivering LAMDA curriculum Experience of teaching Drama as a specialist subject. Demonstrate a high level of initiative. Ability to harness innovative use of technologies in the delivery of the drama curriculum Team player, suited to a collegiate working environment. Experience Recent experience of working within a primary, secondary or prep school setting. Experience of working across the KS1, KS2 or KS 3 in the specialist subject Other Willingness to undertake further specialist training as required.
