Who are we?

WRAP is a global environmental action NGO championing the shift towards a circular economy, fundamentally reshaping how we produce, consume, and manage resources. Our vision is a world transformed, in which Circular Living is commonplace. Where the systems that provide our everyday goods contribute to the world's prosperity and sustainability instead of reducing it.

WRAP is driving Circular Living through four key areas: accelerating the circular economy, future-proofing food, preventing problem plastics and transforming textiles. We catalyse action from policy makers, businesses, NGOs and citizens to make it happen.

We have offices in the UK, USA and Australia, and live projects in over 30 countries.

Join us at WRAP and you'll drive important change to make Circular Living the norm.

The role

As our Specialist – Resource Management, you will join our Collaborative Change Programme team – experts who support councils to meet Welsh Government’s ambitious Beyond Recycling circular economy strategy.

You will manage and deliver a series of projects with councils around Wales to help them develop their recycling and waste strategies. Engaging with local authorities on recycling and waste technical and policy issues, you will provide advice on potential changes both large and small. You will need to use your knowledge of the range of collection, recycling and sorting systems, and understand the Welsh policy and legislative context for delivering recycling and waste services. If you enjoy developing effective working relationships with individuals at a variety of levels and using your technical knowledge to really make a difference, this could be the role for you! Although not essential, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable for the role.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone passionate about waste and recycling services. You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Extensive knowledge of the range of collection services, sorting and treatment technologies in operation in Wales, and the relevant policy and legislative context for the nation(s) in which the role is based.
  • Strong understanding of local authority structures and decision-making processes.
  • Proven ability to engage and influence key senior stakeholders and/or decision-makers to develop strategies and agree and deliver change.
  • Demonstrable experience of writing reports with the ability to confidently present and communicate the findings via workshops and meetings with a wide range of delegates.

Please note that this role does include travel as necessary to locations within the UK. You will occasionally spend time away from home overnight. A full driving license is required for this role as you will be visiting remote sites that are not accessible via public transport.

About WRAP

WRAP is a climate action NGO working around the globe to tackle the causes of the climate crisis and give the planet a sustainable future. Our vision is a thriving world in which climate change is no longer a problem.

At WRAP we believe that our natural resources shouldn’t be wasted. And that everything we use should be re-used and recycled. Our mission is to make the world a more sustainable place. We bring people together, we act on the facts, and we drive change.

Our core purpose is to help tackle climate change and protect our planet by changing the way things are produced, consumed and disposed of.

If you join us at WRAP – and we think you should – you'll help us by tackling sustainable product design, reducing waste, encouraging re-use or advocating recycling across the food and drink, plastic packaging, clothing and textiles and the collections and recycling sectors.

You can help us all to do better.
