Job purpose
No 9 St Pancras Way provides safe accommodation and tailored support for women experiencing homelessness, many of whom are living with the impact of multiple disadvantage. These include experiences of domestic abuse, poor mental health, substance use, physical ill-health and exclusion from essential services. The service is part of Single Homeless Project’s wider commitment to creating lasting routes away from homelessness for Londoners.
The Specialist Multiple Disadvantage Worker exists to ensure that women living in the service can access the right support at the right time. By bringing expert knowledge, partnership links and a psychologically informed approach, the role provides intensive, one-to-one casework alongside opportunities for group recovery. The worker helps residents navigate complex systems, strengthen their confidence, and build the skills and relationships they need to take control of their lives.
Through this role, women are supported to address the barriers that keep them trapped in homelessness, make progress with their recovery, and move towards stable housing and improved health. The impact of the role is seen not only in individual progress but also in strengthening the service’s overall response to women with complex needs, ensuring best practice is shared across the team and that the voices of resident’s shape how support is delivered.
