South Asian Community Specialist Worker

Hours: 37(part time will be considered)

Salary: £29,308 (salary point 3f)

Contract type: FTC until 31st March 2028

Location: Peterborough Office

We currently have an opportunity for a South Asian Community Specialist to join our team at Peterborough Women’s Aid.The Dhalia Project is a project designed specifically to work with victims of abuse from the South Asian Community.

You will provide practical and emotional support to survivors of abuse from the South Asian Community.Your client base may have experienced specific forms of abuse including Honour Based Abuse or Female Genital Mutilation.You will support clients on the telephone or have face to face contact where appropriate and needed.This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to make a difference to a community where abuse is often accepted and tolerated.

Part of the role will be to increase awareness of abuse within the South Asian Community and work with professionals in Peterborough to educate around the barriers this community faces.

You will need to have a thorough understanding of the needs of the South Asian Community.Ability to speak in a relevant community language (e.g. Punjabi, Urdu, Somali, Hindi, Farsi) is desirable.
