The UWC short course Building a Sustainable Future touches on issues within economic, environmental, and social sustainability and their intersections, giving young participants the opportunity to rethink sustainability in its complexity and challenges. These themes are explored in a non-formal learning setting, including self-led projects, interactive workshops, debates, reflections, and guest speakers. Participants are enabled to engage critically and inform discussions on sustainability, to envision the world in terms of a sustainable future, and to contribute to this vision.

Building a Sustainable Future short course is seeking an experienced facilitator.

Facilitators will develop and conceptualise the programme of the course and contribute to the organisational and logistical preparation of the course, taking on such responsibilities as developing and leading workshops, providing publicity support, developing a course evaluation and impact measurement etc. During the course, facilitators are also there to ensure the best experience for participants by meeting with participants daily and organising community events.

Eligibility

  • Applicants should be above the age of 18 at the time of the course.
  • Course language: English

Workload

Facilitators commit to being part of the whole short course. Additionally, you would also need to dedicate a fair amount of time in preparation of the course (e.g. designing workshops) and need to be available for frequent (i.e. weekly/fortnightly) Zoom calls with the team. We will be using Notion for project management so experience with that is helpful. Approximately 2 hours per week, until it ramps up for a few weeks before the course to 5 hours per week. More details in the application form!

Responsibilities

  • Working in diverse teams & with youth
  • Teaching & facilitation
  • Enforcing rules & policies
  • Conflict Resolution
  • We do not expect you to have in-depth experience in each of these areas, but these should be aspects you are willing to work on.

How to apply
