The UWC short course Building a Sustainable Future touches on issues within economic, environmental, and social sustainability and their intersections, giving young participants the opportunity to rethink sustainability in its complexity and challenges. These themes are explored in a non-formal learning setting, including self-led projects, interactive workshops, debates, reflections, and guest speakers. Participants are enabled to engage critically and informed in discussions on sustainability, to envision the world in terms of a sustainable future, and to contribute to this vision.
Building a Sustainable Future short course is seeking an experienced Coordinator.
The coordinators of the course spearhead the project from the development of the conceptual framework through to programme evaluation. Coordinators are responsible for shaping, refining, and updating the course curriculum, ensuring coherence across the learning journey and introducing changes where needed.
During the preparation months, coordinators oversee logistical planning, curriculum design, and team coordination. This includes organising and facilitating team meetings to co-create workshops, align facilitation approaches, and finalise the overall programme structure. During the course, coordinators support delivery, coordination, and problem-solving across the team. After the course, coordinators lead programme evaluation and develop resources and recommendations to improve future editions of the short course, as well as preparing reports for funders.
Eligibility
- Applicants should be above the age of 18 at the time of the course.
- Course language: English
Workload
The work of coordinators includes weekly or biweekly meetings during the preparation phase that you will be leading, with workload peaking in the months leading up to the execution of the course.
During the early preparation phase, coordinators should expect approximately 5 to 6 hours of work per week. In the period immediately before the course, this increases to approximately 8 to 10 hours per week. Coordinators must be present for the full duration of the course, approximately from 19 July to 10 August 2026.
Responsibilities
- Curriculum design and programme development
- Team coordination and meeting facilitation
- Logistical planning and oversight
- Communication within diverse teams
- Programme evaluation and reporting
- We do not expect applicants to have in-depth experience in all of these areas, but these should be aspects you are willing to work on and develop. Ideally, we would be looking for candidates with experience in short programmes.
