As a Play Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children, young people, and their families by delivering engaging, person-centred activities in a safe and welcoming environment. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

Pay Rate: £12.21 – £13.68 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with your team and team leader to create a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment.
- Support children and young people, individually or in small groups, to take part in fun, age-appropriate activities.
- Encourage independence, confidence, and choice in play and leisure activities.
- Respond to individual needs (social, emotional, physical, and communication) with sensitivity and respect.
- Use a range of communication methods to ensure every child is understood and included.
- Provide personal and physical care in a dignified and respectful manner.
- Maintain clear communication with colleagues and report any concerns or changes in needs.
- Contribute to record keeping, session evaluations, and care planning.
- Follow all safeguarding, risk assessment, and health and safety procedures.
- Stay informed about each child’s care plan and support requirements.
Essential Criteria
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate:
- Working in partnership with families and carers.
- A basic understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A proactive and reliable approach to work.
- A caring, patient, and non-judgemental attitude.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice.
- Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
- Willingness to provide personal care where required.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience supporting disabled children or young people.
- Knowledge of different communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS).
- Relevant qualifications in childcare, health and social care, or play work.
