Are you ready to make a difference from the moment someone enters the emergency department? As a

  • Offering practical help and emotional reassurance to people in emergency departments, creating a calmer and more supportive space.
  • Spotting when someone needs help and responding quickly to support their comfort, dignity and safety.
  • Recording activities clearly and accurately to keep the service running smoothly and in line with policy.
  • Communicating with patients, colleagues and hospital staff in a clear, respectful and adaptable way.
  • Supporting team members, joining training, and contributing to a service built on kindness, inclusion and professionalism.
  • Confidence working in a busy hospital environment, especially in the emergency department.
  • A caring, calm approach with strong communication and emotional resilience.
  • The ability to assess needs, follow support plans and work independently.
  • A natural ability to build trust and offer reassurance to people in distress.
  • Confidence using tablets, smartphones, email and basic applications such as Word, Teams or Zoom.
  • A valid manual driving licence would be advantageous.
  • Have the physical ability to be on your feet for extended periods and assist with wheelchair use.
  • Awareness of community or health and social care support services is helpful but not essential.
